The trials of morrigan crow6/12/2023 But when a mysterious ginger man called Jupiter North appears, with the promise to take her away from her old life, she doesn’t hesitate. Her father says it’s all just a cruel joke and the glimmer of hope Morrigan had for a second is crushed. Don’t they know that she won’t live another year? But when it’s bid-day, a day where adults can bid on children to further finance their education, Morrigan receives four bids. Everyone seems to be looking forward to the day she dies and Morrigan doesn’t know any differently. Her family doesn’t provide much comfort either, because they simply dislike her and ignore her most of the time. It also means she is a ‘cursed child’ and she’s constantly having to apologise for everything that goes wrong in the dreary town she is born in. Morrigan Crow was born on Eventide, which means she will die when she is twelve years old. And I can now proudly say: This is a fantastic book, for middle school-ers and university students alike! It’s an absolute rollercoaster of events and emotions washed over me as I read this, flipping through the pages as quickly as I possibly could. It’s often very, as the name suggests, ‘in between’: it’s either too childish or simply trying to hard to be exciting. In books you have this very specific genre called ‘middle school’, and I’m never really that fond of it.

Jessica anya blau mary jane6/12/2023 Mary Jane has been hired as the summer nanny of the five-year-old daughter of Richard and Bonnie Cone, a psychiatrist and his wife who likewise live in Roland Park but are the opposite of her parents. A framed color photograph of Gerald Ford hangs on their dining room wall, visible over her father’s head as he sits at the head of the table reading the newspaper while his wife and daughter serve the meals. Mary Jane is the only child of a conventional Republican father and a humorless, church-going homemaker mother. Narrated in the first person by a 14-year-old girl in 1975, Mary Jane isn’t so much a coming-of-age novel as it is a coming-into-consciousness novel, which may be a quibbling way of saying the same thing since “coming of age” is ultimately all about a character’s self-awareness, but over and over again in this charming, often laugh-out-loud-funny story, the protagonist, Mary Jane Dillard, notices things for the first time, such as her parents’ racism and anti-Semitism, and comes to conclusions about what things are actually valuable and meaningful in a person’s life, as if she is waking up from a long, long sleepwalk. Danielle lori the maddest obsession6/12/2023 My eyes narrowed as Kyle Sheets’ wink from yesterday replayed in my mind. Too bad the atmosphere hadn’t gotten the memo the air was thick and cloying, as though every lie told here had been trapped for eternity. With warm colors and a variety of seating, the room was supposed to be comfortable. The clock’s ticks and tocksfilled the space between us. Therefore, if you haven’t read The Sweetest Oblivion and plan to, I highly recommend you do so first. It happens to coincide with The Sweetest Oblivion’s (MADE #1) storyline. Each chapter of Part One will take you to another year of Gianna’s life, while Christian’s POV is kept within only a few days. Because of this, I’ve split the book into two parts: the past and the present. The Maddest Obsessionspans seven years, from the time Gianna is twenty-one to twenty-eight. "A profound conviction that the neglected education of my fellow-creatures is the grand source of the misery I deplore." () Continuing on from this radical observation, Wollstonecraft states, that through the education of women, relationships between husbands and wives will be better and the children, future of society will receive a better education. Mary Wollstonecraft, "pioneer of feminist thought" (Jane Moore, 1999) in A Vindication of the Rights of Woman was the first to bring the subordinate attitude that society had towards women into the open, arguing that women were men's intellectual equals and therefore affirming a woman's right to a full education. Great poets and philosophers were awakened, and the 'war of pamphlets' began, proclaiming revolutionary theories, arguing social and political change, and urging self-examination. During the early years of the French Revolution, England became a place of new beginnings, where the idea of the individual emerged, the world of literature was reborn and authority was thoroughly questioned and often uprooted.
